Ignacio J. Díaz Maroto é profesor titular no departamento de Enxeñaría Agroforestal da Escola Politécnica Superior de Enxeñaría da Universidade de Santiago de Compostela. É membro da agrupación estratéxica en xestión e produción sustentable de biorrecursos (BioReDes, GI-1251) e do grupo de investigación, Modelización, Enerxía e Mecanización en Biosistemas (BioMODEM, GI-1720).

As súas liñas de investigación principais encádranse nas problemáticas do desenvolvemento rural, a xestión sustentable das masas forestais naturais e dos espazos naturais protexidos, así como na planificación paisaxística.
