Dr. Estefanía Calo works in research lines related to urban sociology, territory and housing. She teaches in the Department of Sociology and Communication Sciences at the UDC where she teaches, among others, the subject of Urban Sociology and Territorial Planning.

She carried out different research stays in various organizations, among which is the Center for Urban History, of the University of Leicester in the United Kingdom (2012); the ISCTE-Instituto do Universitário de Lisboa (2019); the Complutense University of Madrid (2020-2021); and the University of Barcelona (2022), in which she collaborated with research groups related to the study of the city and the relationship between the population and the territory.

She has published different articles in journals of recognized quality and participated in conferences at an international level presenting works related to the study of the city, housing and territory, specifically linked to: the analysis of residential needs, residential policies, the right to housing and the city and the study of different urban processes such as gentrification and touristification. All this work is also linked to issues of sustainability and the environment and the new social relations associated with the common good and decrease.
