Workshop “The Political Ecology of Landscapes”

The workshop “The Political Ecology of Landscapes”, organised by Stefania Barca, Carlos Benítez and Rocío Hiraldo, will be held on 28 October.

This workshop aims at discussing the political ecology approach (conceptual toolbox and methodologies) to the study of landscapes, focussing on the relationship between landscape changes and changing configurations of power (property, racial, class, and gender relations) in different contexts. Crossing all of Cispac research fields (production, population, governance and tourism), it will form the basis for a fruitful exchange of ideas to enhance synergies for national and international projects andinitiatives.

The workshop is structured as an opportunity to present both consolidated approaches and emerging perspectives in the Political Ecology of landscapes. For this reason, a panel of guests from different contexts and career stages is proposed. The workshop will take place in two sessions, each featuring two presentations by guest speakers, commented by two Cispac discussants, and followed by a general debate.

The event will take place in Seminar 103 of the Fontán Building and can be followed live, on
