Seminar: Workers in the green transition

30/04/2026

CISPAC will host the seminar “Workers in the green transition”, an event addressing the role of labour and labour dynamics within ecological transition processes, with particular attention to the social and political dimensions of the so-called green economy.

The session will be moderated by Stefania Barca and will include a presentation by Ville Kellokumpu, a postdoctoral researcher currently on a research stay at CISPAC from the University of Oulu (Finland). His talk, entitled “Labour environmentalism in the Finnish pulp and paper industry”, will examine the role of labour movements in the Finnish forest industry and their relationship with environmentalism, from a political economy and human geography perspective.

The seminar will also feature Rocío Hiraldo, a Marie Skłodowska-Curie postdoctoral fellow at the Department of Sociology and Human Geography at the University of Oslo. Her presentation, “Migrant labour regimes and the development of the wind energy manufacturing sector in Galicia”, will focus on migrant labour regimes and the role of workers in labour mobilisations linked to decarbonisation and the development of the wind energy sector in Galicia.

O seminario comezará ás 12.00 horas e terá lugar no seminario 103 do CISPAC. A información será actualizada proximamente cos detalles completos das intervencións.
