On Thursday 22nd of May, CISPAC will host the conference “Agroecoloxía e Xustiza de Xénero: Perspectivas e Loitas das Mulleres Rurais na Península Ibérica”, given by Rita Calvario, researcher at DINAMIA’CET-Iscte. The session will take place at 12:00 h in Seminar 103 of the Fontán Building (Cidade da Cultura de Galicia).
The researcher will approach a critical reflection on rural women’s struggles in agroecological and agrarian contexts of southern Europe, with special attention to gender dynamics and social movements that defend food and territorial justice. Her research integrates approaches from agronomy, political ecology and social sciences, standing out for her commitment to scientific activism and social transformation.
Calvario is currently leading a project on gender relations in Portuguese agriculture and participates in the European project HORIZON SWIFT, coordinated by CSIC, focused on innovations led by women in rural areas and on the situation of migrant women in Portugal and Spain. She also collaborates with the Barcelona Lab for Urban Environmental Justice and Sustainability (BCNUEJ) and is part of the Editorial Board of Frontiers in Sustainable Food Systems.
The activity is part of CISPAC’s scientific program and is open to the public until full capacity is reached.
