The José Saramago International Chair organizes this Wednesday, April 2, the projection of the film Embargo, directed by António Ferreira in 2010, a film adaptation of the homonymous story included in Objecto Quase, published in 1978 by José Saramago. The event will take place at 16:30 in the Assembly Hall of the Faculty of Philology and Translation of the University of Vigo. Admission is free and open to the entire university community and the general public.
Embargo tells the story of Nuno, a man who works in a bifana food truck and invented a machine that promises to revolutionize the shoe industry, a footwear dixitalizer. In the midst of an oil embargo and facing unexpected difficulties, Nuno becomes obsessed with selling his invention, disregarding fundamental aspects of his life. When he is mysteriously trapped in his own car and loses the opportunity to produce his invention, his life becomes foreclosed.
The projection will be held on Wednesday, April 2 at 16:30 in the Assembly Hall of the Faculty of Philology and Translation of the University of Vigo. Admission is free.
