On 19 and 20 April 2023, CISPAC will host the course ‘The memory of water. Heritage and public works in 20th century Spain’.
This course is organised as part of a national research project led by Professor Begoña Fernández Rodríguez. The project is supported by the universities of Santiago de Compostela, Oviedo and Extremadura, through the research groups Iacobus, Es-Art and i-Pat, respectively It also has the collaboration of FEMEMEMBALSES, the National Federation of Associations and Municipalities with Hydroelectric Power Plants and Reservoirs, with which a framework collaboration agreement has been signed.

The course will focus on the heritage impact of public works on the peninsula, paying special attention to dams and reservoirs Among the cases to be dealt with are Vega de Tera, Riaño, As Conchas, Belesar, Valdecañas, Gabriel y Galán, and Tanes, among others.
In addition to the organising universities, speakers from the University of León, the University of Alcalá de Henares, the University of Valladolid, the Complutense University of Madrid and the University of Zaragoza will also take part.
