Habitares II: Dialogues on Care, Ageing, and Community

30/09/2025

Throughout the month of October, the second edition of the Habitares series will take place. This initiative is organized by the Faculty of Sociology at the University of A Coruña, the ESOMI research group, the Master’s in Social Policies and Community Intervention, and CISPAC. The sessions, held both in person and online, address key issues related to urban spaces, ageing, community life, and everyday infrastructures.

The program begins on October 8 with a lecture by Blanca Callén (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona), who will speak about material fragility and the repair of infrastructures. On October 15, Brais Estévez (CCHS-CSIC) will give a talk on living in heritage cities through an ethics of desire.

The series continues on October 22 with a conference by Guadalupe Jiménez-Esquinas (USC), focused on political friendship among older women in peripheral neighborhoods. The program will conclude on October 29 with the CIUDEN project team (CareNet, UOC), who will reflect on how to reassemble the urban futures of older people.
