02/09/2025

On October 1st, the University of Vigo will host a new activity of the EC4RURAL project (LIFE22-CET-EC4RURAL-101120607) entitled “Energy Communities: Bridging Local Action and Clean Energy Transition”

The event will bring together experts from universities, public administrations, and energy sector organizations to discuss the role of rural energy communities in the transition towards a sustainable and distributed model. The program includes sessions on contextualization and best practices, local leadership and territorial innovation, inclusive public policies, as well as spaces for debate and exchange.

The conference will provide a simultaneous Galician-English translation system and will offer both on-site and online participation options. Registration is free of charge and will remain open until September 15th through the project’s website or by clicking here.

EC4RURAL (Energy Citizenship and Energy Communities for a Clean Energy Transition in Rural Areas) is coordinated by researcher Xavier Simón Fernández, director of knowledge transfer at CISPAC. The project is funded by the European Union’s LIFE programme and aims to empower rural areas in the energy transition, promoting the concept of energy citizenship and supporting the creation of local energy communities as key actors in building a cleaner and more sustainable system.
