The CISPAC celebrated the welcome ceremony for the center’s new research staff in the Edificio Fontán of the Cidade da Cultura. The meeting began with a formal greeting to the new members, at which point Pilar Bermejo Barrera, vice-chancellor of Scientific Policy at USC, intervened; and the members of the management team Lourenzo Fernández Prieto (scientific director), Laura Oso (deputy director) and Xavier Simón (transfer director).
In this presentation, they pointed out the center’s lines of work, the services they offer to their researchers, the facilities and the future prospects they aim to achieve. Pilar Bermejo pointed out the importance of having a plural human team that combines more than 200 related people from different academic positions. The management team also highlighted the varied field of study of the new researchers, who arrive to strengthen the five fields of CISPAC (Visited Landscapes, Heritage Landscapes, Governed Landscapes, Productive Landscapes and Populated Landscapes) following three strategic lines: territory, sustainability and gender.
With this new call, the center goes from being made up of 72 attached members to incorporating 44 new researchers representing the three Galician universities: 16 from the University of Santiago de Compostela, 14 from the University of Vigo and 14 from the University of Coruña.
The event continued with the presentation of the center’s facilities, as well as the services it offers to its staff. Subsequently, five work tables were organized by specialized fields, in order to present ongoing projects and exchange work dynamics and perspectives, as well as open spaces for collaboration between researchers.
To close the meeting, a joint work session was held in which the dynamics discussed and the integration of the new members were compiled, as a conclusion. The management team intervened together with Jose Carlos Sánchez Pardo and José Antonio Fraiz Brea, members of the scientific committee.
